Broadcaster April 13, 2010

A Moment in the Mirror
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. (James 1:22-24)

Who came to a sign at the fork of the road
He looked one way and the other way too
The Zoad had to make up his mind what to do - Well, the Zoad scratched his head,
And his chin, and his pants. - And he said to himself, "I’ll be taking a chance.
If I go to Place One, that place may be hot
So how will I know if I like it or not.
On the other hand, though, I’ll feel such a fool
If I go to Place Two and find it’s too cool
In that case I may catch a chill and turn blue.
So Place One may be best and not Place Two.
Play safe," cried the Zoad,
"I’ll play safe, I’m no dunce.
I’ll simply start off to both places at once.
And that’s how the Zoad who would not take a chance
Went no place at all with a split in his pants.

The words of Dr. Seuss really do describe many people. Those depict the commitment level of many who wear the name Christian. But is that the commitment that Christ is looking for when He says: “…If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.” (Luke 9.23-24) ---- The life with Christ is not an easy way …. Or the easy road….It’s not being a FAN, but a FOLLOWER. You should be satisfied with nothing less than being a FOLLOWER.

Grace and Peace,
Tim

Missions 2010
Summer Backpack Food Program
We took part in this last summer and it was a roaring success. Thanks to YOU children in our community were fed through the summer.
There are about 120 children on the list this year, the need is real and these kids need our help. Churches and businesses through out the community will be asked for different food item’s. Ours will be Instant Oatmeal and Cold Cereal, the single serve packages. Unless you go to a “mega store” most grocers sell the boxes of instant oatmeal and cold cereal that have 10 packages each. Look at it this way:
To take care of 1 child all summer bring in: 5 boxes (10 pk) of instant oatmeal OR 5 packages (10 singles) of cold cereal
If you’d like to take care of 2 kids just double it up!
There will be 5 deliveries this summer and our first collection date is 5/22/10.
