Do you have mercy and kindness? 2 If so, make me very happy by having the same thoughts, sharing the same love, and having one mind and purpose. 3 When you do things, do not let selfishness or pride be your guide. Instead, be humble and give more honor to others than to yourselves. 4 Do not be interested only in your own life, but be interested in the lives of others. 5 In your lives you must think and act like Christ Jesus…. Ok folks, it’s time for the
Summer Backpack Food
Program. We took part in this
last summer and it was a
roaring success. Thanks to
YOU children in our
community were fed through
the summer.
There are about 120 children
on the list this year, the need is
real and these kids need our
help. Churches and businesses
through out the community
will be asked for different food
item’s . Ours will be Instant
Oatmeal and Cold Cereal. The
single serve packages.
The first delivery is scheduled
for 6/1 and there will be
5 deliveries this year. It may
sound early but we need a lot
of cereal! I don't have all the
stats yet but you may start
bringing it in at any time!
Bring in the single serving
packages of cold cereal and
instant oatmeal.

foyer and in the main

Just a Mom??
A woman, renewing her driver's license at the County Clerk 's office,
Was asked by the woman recorder to state her occupation.
She hesitated, uncertain how to classify herself.
What I mean is, ' explained the recorder, do you have a job or are you just a ...?'
Of course I have a job,' snapped the woman. I'm a Mom.'
We don't list 'Mom' as an occupation, housewife' covers it,' said the recorder emphatically.
I forgot all about her story until one day I found myself in the same situation, this time at our own Town Hall.The Clerk was obviously a career woman, poised,
efficient, and possessed of a high sounding title like, Official Interrogator' or 'Town Registrar. What is your occupation? she probed. What made me say it? I do not know. The words simply popped out. I'm a Research Associate in the field of
Child Development and Human Relations. The clerk paused, ball-point pen frozen in midair and looked up as though she had not heard right. I repeated the title slowly emphasizing the most significant words..
Then I stared with wonder as my pronouncement was written, in bold, black ink on the official questionnaire. Might I ask,' said the clerk with new interest,just what you do in your field? Coolly, without any trace of fluster in my voice, I heard myself reply, I have a continuing program of research, (what mother doesn't) in the laboratory and in the field, (normally I would have said indoors and out).
I'm working for my Masters, (first the Lord and then the whole family) and already have four credits (all daughters). Of course, the job is one of the most demanding in the humanities, (any mother care to disagree?) and I often work 14 hours a day,
(24 is more like it). But the job is more challenging than most run-of-the-mill careers
And the rewards are more of a satisfaction rather than just money.'
There was an increasing note of respect in the clerk's voice as she
Completed the form, stood up, and personally ushered me to the door.
As I drove into our driveway, buoyed up by my glamorous new career,
I was greeted by my lab assistants -- ages 13, 7, and 3.
Upstairs I could hear our new experimental model,
(a 6 month old baby) in the child development program,
Testing out a new vocal pattern.
I felt I had scored a beat on bureaucracy!
And I had gone on the official records as someone more
Distinguished and indispensable to mankind than 'just another Mom.'
Motherhood!
What a glorious career!
Especially when there's a title on the door.
Does this make grandmothers
'Senior Research Associates in the field of Child Development and Human Relations'
And great grandmothers
Executive Senior Research Associates?'
I think so!!!
I also think it makes Aunts
Associate Research Assistants.

Hi! Yes it's been awhile! I've had several computer issues of which I wont bore you with detail.
When did it get to the point that I cant handle not having a computer for goodness sake? I mean, I made it for 30 some years with out one and now to think of not having one is unacceptable!!
All of my pictures are now in a computer, my mini video's, in the computer. They're "burned" on to disc's so I can take literally thousands of pix and put them all in one cd album. Awesome. No paper, no space taken up. And yet oddly, I rather miss getting my developed film and negatives back, rushing to the parking lot to sit in the car and get teary eyed at the pictures. Let's face it, film used to lay around awhile before it made it to the store!!
I also rather miss letters, like real letters. You could carry a letter all over the house with your coffee and read and re-read till it was dog-eared. Kinda hard to tote a lap top 'round like that, let alone a desk top!!
I guess the one thing I dont miss is the phone.....awful huh? I mean I do love chatting and hearing the voice but when you're on the phone it's "real time" like stop what you're doing and talk and listen. Oh sure, you can talk on the cordless phone and putter around ending up with a "crick" in your neck, or even the cell phone and have a car wreck, but on the phone you have to stay a bit more focused when you're "listening" to someone speak and actually have to respond, right then.
Staying focused......
God wants our undivided attention. He wants us to speak to Him and listen to Him. I mean to my knowledge you cant go to www.wannasendamessagetoGod.com and get through and if we could, how long before we would check for a reply?? God requires real time we need the real time. No noise, no computers no phones, Blackberries, Androids or Blue tooth!
My Sunday School group just finished a session on "How to Listen to God." We've been in 1 Samuel 3. The boy Samuel was fast asleep and heard a voice call out to him, he went to Eli to see why he'd called him. This happened several times before Eli commanded Samuel back to his bed with these instructions: (v.9) Go and lie down, and if He calls you, say, "Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening."
Samuel needed to be still and silent so he could hear the message God was sending. It would appear later in the same chapter that Saul heard only what HE wanted to hear (can you relate?)But now it was Samuel, who had learned how to listen, commanding Saul to be silent and hear what the Lord had to say about his disobedience.
Oh if we only listened the first time......spend time in His word, be silent and learn to listen. Thank you Father for sending Your Counselor.

Communion Meditation for 3/7/2010
"Surely You desire truth in the inner parts, you teach me wisdom in the inmost place." Psalm 51:6
The weather has been a great source of writing material. I've found some inspiring thoughts a I've watched the snow fall and melt and fall and.........
I don't know many who don't relate the snow covered ground to being clean and pure on some level, several of my favorite hymns refer to just that. In as much as snow covered land is beautiful, it hides imperfections and covers over unpleasing sights, underneath the beauty is not so easy on the eyes, thus humankind comes to mind.
We can adorn ourselves with beautiful things and don a righteous attitude appearing to all the world as, well, as pure as the driven snow, glistening and sparkling behind frozen walls. Then the Son shines on us with bright intensity, the rays reaching down to probe the ice surrounding our "inmost place." It's only when we allow the heat of the Spirit Son to burn into our hearts that the frozen facade begins to melt away exposing the blotches and blemishes we've tried so hard to cover on our own.
Isn't it ironic that the only thing that can cleanse us and make us pure isn't white at all? That the only thing that can cover our blemishes and imperfections is the Crimson flood that flowed from Calvary?
To be cleansed whiter even than the snow we must admit our weakness and confess our imperfections, or as John 6:29 says, Jesus answered, "the work of God is this: to believe in the One He has sent." then in Romans 10:9, "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved."
As we gather once again around this table, "prepared for us in the presence of our enemies," reflect on God's sacrifice, believe it in your heart, then goodness and mercy shall surely follow you as well.

Broadcaster for March 2, 2010
“Pray for ‘Inner Peace’”
In a brief phone call to Tim Stamper Sunday he related some of Aaron’s current situation. Most are aware of the reaction to the recent chemo treatment - the swelling, whole body rash, and peeling of skin. He has needed, and still needs, daily physical strength as well as healing.
But we all need to be praying for Aaron’s spiritual and mental resiliency too. Tim said Aaron confided that he doesn’t have “an inner peace” about the upcoming bone marrow transplant, and Tim responded that they need to be praying about that. So I’m sharing what he said in order for us to redouble our prayers for Aaron’s physical, mental, and spiritual strength – and victory. It’s a tough time for the whole Stamper family, and only the powerful and consoling strength of God can sustain them.
In different ways this has been a tough time for a lot of people. Others have been battling health problems; some have lost loved ones. Numerous people are out of work or unsure of their jobs and what the future holds. Some relationships have fallen on hard times, and discouragement sometimes rises and falls like the erratic weather.
We do well to reflect on what it was like for Jesus’ disciples in the late winter of His last year on earth. Opposition had mounted against this wonderful Teacher and Healer. Official hatred had risen to the point of obvious efforts to eliminate Him, and some of the multitudes that earlier thronged around Him were turning away from His audacious and demanding claims. Things were looking bad, and worry was more than understandable.
But just a few weeks later they would have tremendous reason to rejoice when the truth of His overcoming all opposition – including death itself – became gloriously real. The Christian faith has always consisted of Good News overcoming bad, and we thrive on knowing God can and does bring good out of what may seem hopeless. Let’s all pray more, and let’s trust God to give what’s best – in His own way and time.

In a brief phone call to Tim Stamper Sunday he related some of Aaron’s current situation. Most are aware of the reaction to the recent chemo treatment - the swelling, whole body rash, and peeling of skin. He has needed, and still needs, daily physical strength as well as healing.
But we all need to be praying for Aaron’s spiritual and mental resiliency too. Tim said Aaron confided that he doesn’t have “an inner peace” about the upcoming bone marrow transplant, and Tim responded that they need to be praying about that. So I’m sharing what he said in order for us to redouble our prayers for Aaron’s physical, mental, and spiritual strength – and victory. It’s a tough time for the whole Stamper family, and only the powerful and consoling strength of God can sustain them.
In different ways this has been a tough time for a lot of people. Others have been battling health problems; some have lost loved ones. Numerous people are out of work or unsure of their jobs and what the future holds. Some relationships have fallen on hard times, and discouragement sometimes rises and falls like the erratic weather.
We do well to reflect on what it was like for Jesus’ disciples in the late winter of His last year on earth. Opposition had mounted against this wonderful Teacher and Healer. Official hatred had risen to the point of obvious efforts to eliminate Him, and some of the multitudes that earlier thronged around Him were turning away from His audacious and demanding claims. Things were looking bad, and worry was more than understandable.
But just a few weeks later they would have tremendous reason to rejoice when the truth of His overcoming all opposition – including death itself – became gloriously real. The Christian faith has always consisted of Good News overcoming bad, and we thrive on knowing God can and does bring good out of what may seem hopeless. Let’s all pray more, and let’s trust God to give what’s best – in His own way and time.
